The party list is actually the order your troops will spawn in. There's a number of tricks to the command system that are not immediately obvious. For a playstyle or faction that uses less cavalry, the above would probably feature more infantry groups. Sometimes I will have a sixth group labeled Fast Cavalry or Lancers when I have an unusually large number of units I would normally fold into Horse Archers, such as Sword Sisters. In the future whenever new units of that type are recruited or promoted, they'll automatically be sorted into that group.įor example, I organize troops along these lines:Ĥ - Horse Archers (All my lighter, fast cavalry goes here) By default, the game will organize your warband into Infantry, Cavalry, and Archers, but you can actually assign units to nine different groups including the default three.
Go to your party screen and click on one of your troops. Warband actually features a pretty rich command system, but it is only as useful as you choose to make it. It's effective enough very early in the game against looters and small bands of bandits, but its usefulness will be rapidly outstripped by the various bows your character can use from horseback. Only the very lightest, the hunting crossbow, can be used on horseback. Click to shrink. The Crossbows are exclusively foot weapons.
